Oboes in klezmer music

I have a background in listening and playing American and Irish folk music.   I 
have recently become interested in klezmer, as well.  I currently play the 
saxophone, but my primary instrument is the oboe.  While I realize this is not 
a traditional klezmer instrument, I believe it would fit quite well into the 
sound, particularly with its Near Eastern tone.

Is anybody else familiar with this idea?  I've tried looking on CD lables and 
on the Web, but have come up with very little information.
