Because I have been asked several times about my reference to the
appearance of the Hatikvah tune in Playford, I am posting the details to
the list. 

The "La Mantovana"/"Hatikvah" melody was called "An Italian Rant" in
Playford, and was first published by him in 1657. In Jeremy Barlow's
complete edition of Playford (London: Faber, 1985), it is number 148, on
page 44.
