The Weavers were a wonderful American folk group that included,
among other luminaries, Pete Seeger. To some degree, they were
the continuation of the Almanac Singers. They faced some rough going
during the McCarthy years, and ended up doing periodic reunions
(last one ~1980, right before Lee Hays, the bass voice, died).
Damn wonderful recordings. Sparked a folk revival or two in the
US. Cited as a major influence on Peter, Paul, and Mary, among
others. Holly Near recorded an album with Ronnie Gilbert, the
female voice of the group, back in the '80s, and the two joined
forces with Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie for a while in the last
'80s or early '90s as "HARP" (Holly Arlo Ronnie Pete).

Books could be written (and hopefully, have been written)....

I have usually seen Leadbelly's name spelt as one word, but
cannot assert that the common version is correct. (The nickname
was for folk/blues singer Huddie Ledbetter.)
