RE: Julio Inglesias Jewish?

Robert,

You must be new to the Internet and mailing lists. Let me inform about
something you are not aware of. There is a button called DELETE that you
can use every time you see a message with Julio Inglesias in the subject
line or anything else you are not interested in reading about. If you
would like posts "on Jewish music and its rapid exciting new expressions",
why don't YOU start a thread about that and we, who are also interested in
the same, will interact with you. But since you are a rare poster, I
don't think that you should tell others what threads they should or
shouldn't pursue. I don't personally give a damn about Igelsias or Mariah
Carey or their music, but if a Jew is one of the two top singers (the other
one being the opera singer) of such a deeply, deeply anti-Semitic country
which has not even a few thousands of self-identified Jews in the country
(mostly foreigners), as a Jewish scholar, I want to know about him. I
happen to have been in Spain in 1993 for the 500th anniversary of the
expulsion, and I got the shock of my life when in Toledo, once a great
Jewish center city with no Jews today (the last single Jew (an Israeli)
left the country two years earlier) had several door fronts graffitied with
Nazi emblems and the words "death to all foreigners" and "foreigner get
out". I have pictures of those graffities. The great old synagogues and
museums are all run by non-Jews. You don't want to know, mekhateysi, then
delete away. As we say on the 'net, lurkers don't have a right to
complain about content.

I should tell you that if you delete, you will miss a lot of interesting
stuff.

Dear Reyzl
Having not been interested in Iglesias' before...
I am now somewhat interested for expressions
of his alleged jewish identity,
I must reluctantly admit.
I would rather focus on Jewish music and its rapid exciting new
expressions.
'I heard that the popes great great great great uncles inlaws second cousin
was half jewish!"
Be well
Robert
