I recommend to take a look at the article "Bulgaresca/Bulgarish/Bulgar: The
Transformation of a Klezmer Dance Genre" by Walter Feldman in
"Ethnomusicology" 38 (1):1--35.  His knowledge is the best. Enjoy!
