HI Susan,
I have been providing music regularly for our Rosh Chodesh services. I
posted a similar question on the list a few months ago and the responses
really helped me get started. During the service itself I sing the regular
prayers, sometimes with a feminine slant, and choose different songs for
the opening and closing.
Birkat Halavena
Bruchot Haba'ot
Angel's Blessing
Miriam's Song
by Debbie Friedman.
Cycles by Rachel Gurevitz, who is on the list.
Miraj and Vocolot are two recording groups it is worth checking out. I
don't have their recordings yet but it is on my list of things to do.
After the Rosh Chodesh service and kiddush our group has a a meeting and
discussion or activity on different themes. I am planning an evening of
song and participation where I will be teaching Jewish songs relevant to
the Jewish woman's experience. I will be bringing rhythm instruments along
and teaching accompaniment on drums, shakers, chimes, claves, etc. That is
my bent because of my training in Orff music education and jazz
improvisation background.
The Rosh Chodesh services at our Temple are just wonderful, and quite
spiritually fulfilling. All the best with yours.
