Re: purim shpiels

Dear Abby,

Too bad you won't be there. It's going to be at Trinity again. I believe
that's where I took that picture, wasn't it?

Okay - here are the titles of the Purim spiels that I have with a summary of
what they are.

1) Indianna Cohen and the Golden Megillah. Indianna Cohen goes through all
kinds of unlikely dangerous situations with his sidekicks, Montik and
Donneshtick, to find the missing golden megillah. There are several songs -
all written "to the tune of..." something familiar... including Chag Purim, Ani
Purim, and Fernando's Hideaway. Finale to the tune of "The Dreamer."

2) The Adverntures of Peretz Paz and Captain Vav - a takeoff on Peter Pan and
the later movie Hook AND, of course the Purim story. Captain Vav is Hamman's
cousin and in cahoots with the banished Vashti to kidnap Queen Esther, which he
does. Peretz Paz rescues the captive queen. Again many songs to the tune of
something... finale - to the tune of "Follow the Yellow Brick Road."

3) Eliahu Din and the Magic Lamp - take of on Aladin. Set in Persia, it's
kind of appropriate. Eliahu Din - a Jewish street urchin and his two sisters
end up with a magic lamp complete with genie - which is much coveted by the
evil Haman. The street urchins and the genie visit the royal palace at the
appropriate time and help arrest Haman. Genie is kind of like the Robin
Williams character from the Disney film - slapstick funny. Once again, to the
tune of songs. Finale - to the tune of the Yigdal leading into the chorus of
Not By Might as written.

4) The Bridges of Shushan county - much more the Purim story than the story of
the Bridges of Madison County (which, frankly, I've neither read nor seen. All
I know is that they were leaving notes for each other on bridges and it was
adultery). Purim story in a modern setting including the king and queen and
Vashti all appearing on tv talk shows - the Oprah Winofsky show and the Sarah
Yaffa Raphael show. Mordechai and Esther leave notes for each other on a
bridge as do Bigtan and Teresh. The wrong people get the wrong notes and
mayhem erupts. Songs to the tune of things plus an original finale song.

5) The Flinsteins - a Jewish stoneage family. Based very much on the Flinstone
movie. Rock Hammanstone and Vashti try to appoint a king they can control -
namely Feivel Flinstein - by virtue of the fact that he fails their test. He
is warned and puts them in prison. Most songs to the tune of something.
Original finale song (my favorite of all my original finale songs).

6) Kobe Kaspi, the Friendly Ru'ach - take off on Casper. The nasty uncle
ghosts - Bomba, Fooyah, and Loksh - decide to haunt the royal palace of Shushan
and join forces with Haman. Kobi Kaspi warns Esther and Mordechai and the plot
backfires against them and against Haman. Same as above - most songs to the
tune of - original finale song.

7) Tza'atzu'im - The Case of the Missing Manot - Oy, another Toy story... - Two
children live next door to a nasty kid called Sid Haman who steals all their
manot that they're going to bring to school. Their toys help them retrieve the
baskets, fighting Sid's nasty toys. Features King Achashverosh Lightyear -
Queen Esther Bopeep and Cowboy Purim. Same as above.

Let me know if you want any more details about any of these, okay?
