teacher received from 60 to 120 rubles per year for each hour of instruction,

for 30 weekly hours, from 1800 to 3600 rubles per year... The salaries of 
homeroom teachers [or class advisors, in Polish "dama klasowa"] in girls' 
boarding schools were
very low.  They earned from 10 to 45 rubles a month during the school year."
