HERE¹S WHY YOU GOTTA COME TO
THE YIDDISH CONFERENCE IN BALTIMORE
SEPTEMBER 4, 5, 6, 7


1. Your friends and colleagues will be there.
Henry Sapoznik, Yale Strom, Lori Cahan-Simon (with Steven Greenman and Walt
Mahovitch in tow) they¹re coming, plus Shira and Ken Richmond, the FISH
Street Klezmer Duo of Klezmaniacs fame, plus our own local Charm City
Klezmer, Baltimore Klezmer Orchestra. Cantor Allan Berman will do Zmiros and
Chasidic nigunim after the Shabes dinner and conduct Sabbath services. And
the incredible Avi Albrecht will sing Yiddish on Saturday night. The trio
from Philadelphia ­ Sender Botwinik, Sherm Labovitz and Marvin Weinberger
will close with a concert of beautiful Yiddish art and theater songs on
Sunday morning.

2. The networking¹s great.
Many of the attendees are leaders of US and Canadian Yiddish clubs AND major
Yiddish events. In fact, the MC of the Talent Cabaret is none other than
wunderkind Mitch SMOLKIN, director of the ASHKENAZ FESTIVAL in Toronto.

3. You can learn a great deal about today¹s world of Yiddish.
There will be 28 workshops by a who¹s who of teachers, academics, writers,
poets, scholars, activists, web magazine editors, performers.

4. You¹ll learn about the newest books and cd¹s, attend a showing of Yale
Strom¹s new film, ³L¹Chaim, Comrade Stalin², and a whole lot more. Sal
Kluger of Simkha Sales will be running his shop of Yiddish and Klezmer
goodies.
