Re: Periodicals, sites that review CDs

For those interested, the release is:

Yahudije
Urban Ladino Music / from Istanbul, Izmir, Thessalonica and Jerusalem with
Hadass Pal-Yarden

Kalan Music 272.

http://www.kalan.com/english/scripts/album/dispalbum.asp?id=3447

I have not heard it yet. As for the samples on the web pageMost important,
they are mostly taken up by instrumental introductions so it will be hard
to get a sense of the artist's vocal style.I've brought this to her
attention. I have forwarded all replies to date to Ms. Pal-Yarden.

It is described like so:

>This album presents Ladino repertoire from a different perspective. It
>deals with urban music from Istanbul, Izmir, Thessalonika and Jarusalem.
>Its difference is embodied in a combination of three main charactersitics:
>the song repertoire, the musical interpretation and the importance given
>to the documentation of those songs. We give this album as a gift to
>lovers of traditional music, to people interested in a less familiar but
>very beautiful repertoire and to those who want to know more about the
>stories behind the songs to see through them the world those songs once
>represented.
