yemenite instruments

Someone was asking whether the use of percussion only by Yemenite Jews was 
due to political persecution or for religious reasons.  I have an article 
that says both explanations are valid.  The article is:

An Inquiry into the Natur of Yemenite Jewish Dance by Shalom Staub from
