The 18th Annual Jewish Music Festival, March 22-29, 2003 is a good reason to
visit the San Francisco Bay Area!
Concerts in the East Bay and San Francisco include Shlomo Bar and Habrera
Hativeet, renowned for bringing the music of Jews from Arab countries into the
Israeli cultural mainstream; Gerry Tenney & California Klezmer, specializing in
introducing Yiddish to children through songs; The Andy Statman Trio, with a
mandolin and clarinet master whose pioneering klezmer style incorporates
bluegrass and jazz; Vocolot and Street Sounds, two a cappella ensembles
presenting songs from Jewish and African American traditions; Quartet San
Francisco with violin virtuoso Jeremy Cohen, premiering a new work with
influences ranging from cantorial chants to Yiddish theater; and The Klezmatics
(with guest artist Holly Near), a star band that has brought Jewish music to
audiences around the world for more than a decade. Tickets range in price from
