Thanks for the link, Robert. That indeed was the picture I referred to.
Zofia appears to be a popular and important Deco artist, but not Jewish
judging by the Christian themes in her other works. Given her stylization,
its hard to tell how much of an element of caricature is in the picture. Its
interesting how stylizations and stereotypes can become accepted as
mainstream or authentic- witness any Israeli dance group's version of a
Chassidic dance - very odd and exagerated, at least.
