Hello- can anyone help?
I've heard that the word 'Klezmer' was first used to mean a musician in
the Austro-Hungarian Empire, at a time when Jewish musician's unions
were being set up and they wanted a more elegant word than 'Spielman.'
How true is this- and does anyone know what sort of date this would be?
Thanks in advance-
