Scarborough Fair

I have been asked by an Israeli composer, to ask whether anyone on the
list knows about a connection between Art Garfunkel's song, Scarborough
Fair and any Jewish tune. It seems that with a bit of musical license,
the very popular tune for Adon Olam (Adon Olam 28 on my site:
http://members.tripod.com/%7EAnimzmirot/midis.html )
is similar and someone heard that Garfunkel based his tune on a melody
his father brought home from shul.
Regarding this Adon Olam tune, does anyone know the origins?
Does anyone know of a tune of any kind that is connected with the Kabbalah?
Thanks
Stephen Simpson
