Nefesh at International Festival of Arts & Ideas, New Haven CT June 16



May/June 2002 Bulletin: 

Nefesh Klezmer Band has some busy weekends ahead including a second 
opportunity to perform at the 7th Annual International Festival of Arts & 
Ideas on Sunday afternoon, June 16th at 2:00 p.m. on the Fleet Stage, Lower 
New Haven Green, (at Chapel Street between Church and Temple), Downtown New 
Haven, Connecticut. Ticket Price: free

Nefesh was amongst the 30 or so performers selected by jury comprising of 
civic leaders, arts administrators and fellow artists from nearly 200 
Connecticut applicants and will join a list of nationally and internationally 
acclaimed performers at this prestigious 18 day event. The festival is one of 
the major annual U.S. summer arts events and attracts world class performers 
and artists including Britain?s Royal Shakespeare Company, The Kronos 
Quartet, and an open-air performance by The Metropolitan Opera Company. 

As Festival Director Mary Miller describes it - ?the  Festival takes a 
spectacular journey--an exploration of creativity and thought from far-flung 
places and homelands. Our family programs expand to include daily events, 
local and international throughout the Festival, Connecticut's artists blaze 
their own remarkable trail. Join us, join in--roam the world in the space of 
a city. ?

SO JOIN US AND "WATCH US BLAZE" - - -Nefesh was selected to play an open air 
concert at last years event but was prevented from doing so by severe weather 
conditions. The groh will be the only band at the festival representing 
Jewish Music.

The band has been invited to perform an oudoor concert in Downtown Waterbury, 
CT, as part of the Jewish History Exhibition which is taking place at The 
Mattatuck Museum. The performance is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24th the 
Green in front of the Museum beginning at 7:30pm.. This is a free concert. 
Updates and more details to follow.
PLUS - Nefesh will be in concert at Temple Sholom, New Milford CT, Sunday, 
July 28th. Performance will begin at 6:30. Look for future bulletin regarding 
ticket info, directions, etc.

Band members are: Sharon Citrin (vocals); Alex Greenberg (clarinet, 
recorders); George Steinfeld (accordion, doumbek -Middle Eastern drum); Linda 
Goodman (bass guitar); Barbara Britt? Goodman (keyboard, hammered dulcimer); 
Alan Falk (drums, guitar).
