In preparation of a program on Kol Nidre (that I have presented at a CAJE
and elsewhere), including not only various liturgical renditions of Kol
Nidre but also musical quotations in popular and classical music and movies,
I made use of a book by my Hebrew University roommate, Stuart Weinberg
Gershon, "Kol Nidrei: Its Origin, Development, and Significance (Aronson
1994 ISBN: 1-56821-200-3). I think that you will find it helpful.
