Re: yiddish language decline?



Of course, there's IB Singer's famous remark about there being a difference 
between dead and dying.  But on a more realistic plane, I think that 
outside of the scattered populations that will continue to make a "living" 
use of various forms of Yiddish, the language will soon become the secular 
equivalent of Aramaic, a vast storehouse of Jewish culture in a "dead" 
language inextricably bound to Jewish life.
