Josh Waletzky Interview on The Yiddish Voice
Discussing Crossing the Shadows, a New Yiddish Music Recording

The Yiddish Voice, a Yiddish-language weekly radio show, will feature
an interview with Josh Waletzky discussing his recently released
recording and concert series. The Interview airs during the program
on Wednesday, February 20, at 7:30 p.m. on WUNR 1600 AM in Boston,
Mass.

Crossing the Shadows (Ariber di Shotns) is an album and concert series
of original Yiddish songs and melodies, with words and music by Josh
Waletzky. Josh Waletzky is a filmmaker and a founder of the klezmer
revival, who has been writing music in a traditional Jewish style
since he was twelve. His settings of Yiddish texts were first recorded
on "Vaserl" in the late 1970s. His compositions have been performed
and recorded through the years all over the world. As a documentary
film director he has worked often with Eastern European Jewish themes,
particularly in "Image Before My Eyes" and "Partisans of Vilna".

The Yiddish Voice, which began broadcasting in July, 1994, features
music, poetry, comedy, interviews, news, commentary, and announcements
of current events, all of it in the Yiddish language.
