JCC Funding

Yes, after seven years of sponsoring the Annual Midwest Klezmer and Yiddish
Music Institute, the Kaplan JCC (Skokie) is pulling out. They feel they
can't justify any cultural programming that cannot pay for itself. (I even
worked out a proposal that almost paid for everything, including Illinois
Arts grant money which was promised). It looks like other arts organizations
are going to have to take over the job of preserving Yiddish culture!
