And to open an even bigger can of something: what
about the work of third reich film maker Leni
Riefenstahl (triumph of the will, olympia, etc..)?
Almost every news item featuring Riefenstahl includes
something about genius and evil. I ask this because,
in fact, she has a film due to release on her
centenary (yes she's still alive and kicking). And
Jodie Foster is apparently releasing a biopic in which
she portrays the film maker sometime soon, for which
she (Foster) was predictably scolded by many
organizations.
But the question is, what about her work, specifically
the highly influencial work she did for the nazis (she
claims she knew nothing of all that bad stuff the
nazis were doing): art? evil? good art? bad art? wrong
art? Does it have value?

is even more interesting. Josh asked soemthing like,
"does that invalidate the painting as a work of art?"
