Lori,

I've dealt with the same dilemma for years. Obviously the money is much
better per unit sold on a self release, and if most of your sales are off
the bandstand anyway, then that's clearly the way to go. I highly recommend
Oasis as a duplication service, I've done numerous projects with them, they
are really good, conscientious people to work with!

All that said, on the flip side, the curse of the small independent, artist
owned label is distribution. These days, it's gotten much harder to get
product out there, even for well respected indie labels such as Shanachie,
etc. A shrinking number of major conglomerates own the all the major labels,
distributors, chain stores, radio stations, internet stores, etc. In this
scenario, it's even more difficult for an artist owned label to get product
placed in chain stores at all without the support of a label. Sorry for the
bleak picture. I too, probably should've sent this privately, but here goes!
A little airing of music business dirty laundry for everyones' enjoyment.

Best of luck on the new CDs, I look forward to hearing them, in whatever
label affiliation.

gut shabes,

Seth
