SCHOLAR-IN-RESIDENCE: PROFESSOR ARNOLD EISEN
January 25 and 26: "Rethinking Mitzvah: Commandments, Commander,
Commandedness." How shall we think about mitzvah today?  What meaning does
commandment have to contemporary Jews with varying degrees of belief in
whether the Torah was revealed by God at Mount Sinai?
Don't miss this opportunity to hear Professor Eisen, a dynamic and
well-known
speaker and author of many books and articles about contemporary Jewish life
and thought in America and Israel.
Friday night: Dinner and study session following Kabbalat Shabbat services
(services begin at 5:30).  Members $20, nonmembers $25, children $8.
Lecture
only $8.
Shabbat: Potluck lunch and study session following services.  You may bring
something for the potluck or contribute $12 toward the purchase of food.
Seudah Shlishit and study session: 4:30 PM. Light dairy meal $5 per person.
Registration forms will be in the mail shortly, or call extension 415 in the
office to register.  Credit cards accepted.
