Regarding the music of Afghanistan, particularly love songs of Northern
Afghanistan,  the ethnomusicologist Mark Slobin (Professor of Music at
Wesleyan University) is the author of "Music in the Culture of Northern
Afghanistan" and I'm sure he has many field recordings.  He is also the
author of "Tenement Songs: The Popular Music of the Jewish Immigrants",
"Chosen Voices: The Story of the American Cantorate"  and  the editor of
"Old Jewish Folksongs and Fiddle Tunes: The Writings and Collections of
Moshe Beregovski".
