There is a big feature article on klezmer and Jewish culture in Sweden in
this week's International Jerusalem Post (July 20 issue). I'm not sure if
it's on the Post's website, check that out at www.jpost.com/International.
In any case, the gist of the article, "Swedish on the Roof," by Nina
Solomin, is that "there is a revival of interest in Jewish culture in
Sweden, with just one small twist -- most of it is among non-Jews."
THe article says there are 15 klezmer bands in Sweden, "and very few of them
have even a single Jewish member."

“An informative and entertaining guide….Seth Rogovoy lucidly explains what’s
culturally significant about klezmer; better yet, he captures the music’s
fun.” – jazz critic Francis Davis, author of "Bebop And Nothingness" and
