Most e-mail programs have features to automatically block junk e-mail that
are very easy to use. I use Microsoft outlook and if one goes to the tools
menu and the 'rules wizard' it is possible to set up a category called junk
e-mail that will automatically direct incoming junk e-mail to the
wastebasket without going through the inbox. After that it is a minor thing
whenever a junk e-mail comes in you right click on the message and then
click the 'Junk E-mail' button and then 'add to Junk Sender's list'. You
never have to see another junk e-mail from that sender again.
In a similar vein, for those of you troubled by unwanted 'pop up ads' there
is a program that automatically eliminates them, and it's free for personal
use. Go to http://www.adminus.com/se/features.html and follow the
directions.

While it is less annoying than junk mail through the post office, some of it
promotes obnoxious sex and illegalities, of the kind that would have legal
problems under postal laws. I try to limit the number of mailing list I'm
put on, and mp3.com isn't the kind of operation I trust in that regard.
Obviously, I trust the people on this maillist, since I use a real e-amil
address.
