Moran Children?s Choir performance!




Israel's Acclaimed Moran Children's Choir at the JCCS of Bridgeport



Bridgeport, CT-- The voices of the Middle East will share their music and 
harmonious message when Israel's acclaimed Moran Children's Choir will 
perform in a community wide Israel solidarity concert at the Jewish Center 
for Community Services, 4200 Park Avenue, on Sunday, April 1, 2001 at 3 p.m.

The 50-member choir was founded in 1985 by its conductor, Naomi Faran, and 
has performed for former president Bill Clinton and the late prime minister 
of Israel, Yitzchak Rabin, for the Queen of England and appears regularly 
with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Zubin Mehta.  Recent 
diplomatic missions have staged the choir in joint performances with the 
Harlem Boys Choir and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.

The choir is composed of young musicians carefully selected from Moshav Beit 
Yitzchak, a community outside Tel Aviv known for its musical vibrancy.  The 
children are trained in voice, music appreciateion, movement and drama from 
early childhood on.  Their wide-ranging repertoire includes classical, 
Israeli, and international folk music, including original compositions by 
Israel's leading composers and songwriters. They will perform with seven 
cantors from Fairfield County, who will Join in a message of solidarity and 
peace for the state of Israel.

All area synagogues (Beth El of Fairfield, Ahavath Achim, Rodeph Shalom and 
B'nai Israel of Bridgeport, B'nai Torah of Trumbull, Temple Israel and The 
Conservative Synagogue of Wesport, as well as Merkaz, Hillel Academy, and 
BBYO/AZA are bringing their people to enjoy, participate and above all show 
their support for Israel.
