Serious Tsimblkeit

Here's a late two cents on what my favorite part of Klezkanada was-- an actual
tsimbl class!!!  Getting the chance to have faculty like Josh Horowitz, Zev
Feldman and Stu Brotman (tsimbler Kurt Bjorling was also around), a great crop
of six talented students, and of course those beautiful trapeziform instruments
was a real Machaya!  There were some deep discussions of stick "ballistics,"
tsimbl sitar, and how to correctly play out of rhythm and tune.  The tsimbl
revival is in full force-- and much credit goes to the above mentioned faculty
for their part in resurrecting this important Jewish musical tradition.
