Re: JEWISH-MUSIC digest 1535

In a course on Israeli popular music that Eddie Seroussi taught at UCLA 2
years ago, he referred us to his article that has already been
mentioned. Other references he gave us he characterized as very general,
outdated or simply background about Israeli pop culture rather than about
music.
What I did become familiar with through the course is the compilation CD
set Israel's 240 Greatest Songs in Celebration of its 50th Anniversary, a
10 cd set. Alas, the textual material is all in Hebrew, except for the
list of compositions/pieces for each of the discs. The songs are grouped
according to decade, rather than giving year of composition. But it does
make for good listening. I would imagine your library has it, Judy. I
ordered it from Israel.
