Virus

A couple of days ago I received an e-mail from someone on this list, which
had a program as an attachment. I thought it seemed suspicious, so I didn't
open it, and I sent a message to the person I had received it from, asking
if they had intended to send it.

I haven't heard back from them, probably because their computer is currently
disabled. I did a little research, and found out it is indeed a virus.

If you receive an e-mail with an attachment named PrettyPark.exe, do not
open it, and delete it immediately. If you are not sure if you have
received it, search your computer for a file named FILES32.VXD; if it
exists, your machine is infected. If your machine is infected, the site

http://global-positioning.com/pretty_park/

claims to have instructions about how to remove the virus. I know nothing
about this site or the quality of its instructions. However, a search of
the web for "Pretty Park" will turn up several additional web sites with
information about the virus.

And, to the list member whose machine sent me the virus, who will
undoubtedly read this at some time in the future when their machine is
working again: I hope it didn't take too long, and wasn't too much of a
headache.
