For the sake of accuracy, "Es Brent" by Mordkhe Gebirtig
was composed in 1938, before WWII and the Holocaust.
It is not "about a town on fire" specifically; this image is
used by the poet to convey his prophecy and his warning of
what lay in store for Poland's Jewish population.
German singer-guitarist Manfred Lemm has published
a book on Gebirtig and his songs : "Mordechaj Gebirtig/Yiddische Lieder"
