Re: Tango a zsidoknak

Hello! I'm new to the list, and this is my first posting. A disc that i
bought quite a while ago, but still enjoy, is by Muzsikas. It's called
Maramaros: The Lost Jewish Music of Transylvania. It's an excellent disc
performed by a Hungarian folk group (Muzsikas). They were taught the songs
by Gypsy musicians who played for the Jews before the war. The musical (and
perhaps entire) Jewish population of this area was wiped out during the
Holocaust. Included with the disc is an 18-page insert. It's very
enlightening and I learned so much. The music is very rustic. It's
beautiful. I highly recommend this disc to all. Peace! --Jerusha

<< I've just bought CD UJ PATRIA - Az Utolso Ora program
gyujtemeny ebol ---Kalatoszegi nepzene containing field
recordings of Hungarian music from Transylvanian
 Kalatoszeg region.
One short piece is named "Tango a zsidoknak" /Jewish
Tango/ played by band with three violins and double
 bass in crippled tango rhytm.
Does anybody knows more about such tunes /or heard this
 one and comment it/ ?? >>
