(adv.) latest Klezmokum album

Now available - the third album from the Dutch group Klezmokum, "ReJew-venation"! Lead by U.S. ex-patriot and seasoned jazz pianist and arranger Burton Greene, Klezmokum has been featured several times at New York's Knitting Factory. They continue to cook up a Jewish/klezmer tsimis based on jazz and spiced with Balkan, Greek, Turkish and other delights.

"Russian Sher #5 / Sherele", for instance, is jazz in feel, instrumentation (clarinet, soprano sax, piano, drums) and length (almost 6 minutes)...Ydid Nefesh is interpreted as a swinging waltz under the scat singing of the sweet- voiced Patricia Beysens...El Rez Por Munch Madruga (a Ladino form from the 1500s) is another vocal in which Greene alternates the traditional 9/8 rhythm with one in 8/8...Clarinetist Hans Mekel contributes a G major doyne...Alternating moods characterize Shir Hashomer - a mellow trumpet solo, vocals alternating with drums, upbeat interludes...
