RE: uncredited music on CDs

In regard to Robert's (and others') posts about what can be done to avoid
"losing the composer" in traditional works - I think that perhaps the
internet can be a big help. Perhaps a few (or more) of us can assemble a
MIDI archive of traditional melodies -- together with all the vitals
(composer, publisher, etc...). I think that the obvious problem, however,
with this kind of resource is that it can just as well abuse the composers
it tries to serve.

Used responsibly, this kind of online (Jewish) composition encyclopedia
would be tremendous.

Y'know, back in the "GOPHER" days before the WWW, there used to be a
"lyrics" archive site. But, I remember hearing that it disappeared due to
legal issues.

Any further ideas?

Steve
