I heartily second Simon's rave review of this fantastic album. Nomi has
Cleveland roots and did a concert here recently, and this is one of the
few Jewish albums I'm currently listening to even when away from my
store. ("The Well" by Chava A and the Klezmatics is the other one...)
I talked to her a bit about the album (her first non-classical endeavor)
when I met her. She's an observant Jew who is very devoted to Jewish
unity and interdenominational dialogue, and I think the feel of the
album reflects that. I don't usually enjoy "Yeshivish rock," but this
album avoids most of the pitfalls one sometimes finds in the neo-genre.
Actually, as Simon said, classifying this as just another Jewish rock
album would not do it justice. From arrangements to tunes to choice of
text to production, this one's a winner.
