The String Trio *Triology* to Perform International Music
Wednesday, Jan. 13
8:00 p.m.
DC Jewish Community Center
1529 16th St. NW (16th and Q)
Cecile Goldman Theater
DCJCC Members: $10 / Non-members: $12

Building bridges between styles and epochs, this wonderful string trio never
fails to enchant its audience. The three musicians of Triology, Daisy Jopling
from London, Tristan Schulze from Dresden and Aleksey Igudesman from St.
Petersburg give a world class performance. This ensemble of classically
trained musicians have found themselves spontaneously branching out from their
classical roots, improvising and developing an intimate communication between
themselves and the audience. The trio does not confine itself to two violins
and cello, but performs on a variety of percussion instruments from several
different continents, the Irish tin whistle, the Indian Sitar and Tristan*s
own creation, an 18-stringed cello. Each performance is conceived of as a
whole, and consists of original works by the individual members, innovative
arrangements of composers such as Piazzolla and Paco de Lucia, classical
compositions, and invigorating renditions of traditional folk music from
Africa, India, and Ireland.
