Perhaps its name was "Hamelekh Hamashiakh".
Does anyone know if that is true? If so, was the song recorded and
was there a recorded version "accepted" by the community?

There are two songs to which you may be referring:
1. Boruch Habah Melech Hamoshiach. Avraham Fried, I don't know the title of
the album.
2. Yechi Adonenu Moreinu V'rabbeinu Melech Hamoshiach. I don't know if this
song was ever recorded. It is set to an old Chasidic tune.
