12 Corners Klezmer Band Album Release



Rochester NY's premier klezmer ensemble-- The 12 Corners Klezmer Band--
is pleased to announce the release of our first recording, "Git Azoy"
(It's Good That Way), in January of 1999.

Meet The 12 Corners Klezmer Band:  

Rob Mendel ( clarinet )- founder of the group, brings extensive research
into the Klezmer tradition and its place in Yiddish Culture. Attendance
at KlezKamp in 1992, '96, and '97 enabled Rob to embrace a large
repertoire of 1st and 2nd generation tunes.

Bonnie Abrams ( guitar & vocals ) - an award -winning songwriter, Bonnie
has released four solo albums, including A Sudenyu of Yiddish Song,
which was selected for display and sale at the United States Holocaust
Museum.

Glenna Chance ( violin ) - an Eastman School of Music trained soloist,
Glenna holds three degrees in music performance. She has performed
extensively in America and Germany and teaches violin and viola.

Zeljko  Kuvizic ( accordian ) - a native of Yugoslavia, "Zack" has
played throughout his homeland in a variety of folk and popular music
groups.  His playing shows influences from Gypsy to jazz to rock music.

Roey Mendel ( cello ) - also a veteran of KlezKamp, Roey supplies the
"bottom" and rhythm to the group's arrangements. In addition, she is an
experienced dance leader with years of teaching experience.

Pete Rushefsky ( 5-string banjo ) - KlezKamp and KlezKanada trained,
Pete is a pioneer in adapting an American folk instrument to the klezmer
sound. Pete is the author of the instruction book, The Essentials of
Klezmer 5-String Banjo.

Sean Michael Sullivan ( drums ) - His percussive career has followed
many paths, including marching, concert, jazz, country, and folk-rock
bands.  Sean's eclectic background provides an important rhythmic
component.
