i think you are. or we are. every time i mention something tzadik related or
similar, no one responds.

to make your life more full, first off you need to listen to Charming Hostess.
theyre amazing. the end. 3 girl singers and 3 boy rhythm section. and lots of
bulgarian folk songs made into...nice new things. there are samples at
http://www.sirius.com/~lenny/ch/index.html and at
http://www.vacrec.com/hostess/hostess.html. but they could be poor quality and
dont do the album justice at all. so buy it.

also....um... compilations of jew stuff on the Knitting Factory label. like
Jews and the Abstract Truth, or Psycho Semetic. those have good things on
them. or Frank London's The Shvitz. www.knittingfactory.com

but if you know about tzadik stuff then you probably already know about these.
i dont really like Mouth Maul Betrayer. Erik Friedlander's The Watchman is
really good. David Krakauer's Klezmer Madness is very amazing. John Zorn's
Circle Maker is probably the darkest most passionate painfully beautiful
jewish cd i own. the first disc at least. and Bar Kokhba is really great too.
i get the impression that some of those other Radical Jewish cds tend to suck.
like Kramer or..i dunno what others because i stay away from the ones that
seem to stray too far from traditional jewish melodies, and seem to be put out
by John Zorn only because the composers are jewish. or the Great Jewish Music
tributes. those composers' music are not jewish in any way shape or form. but
i guess it could be argued that there is a certain edge to their music simply
because they are jewish. i dunno.

umm...others.. Naftule's Dream is pretty good. so is anthony coleman's
Sephardic Tinge. but theyre much better live than the cd. hopefully hre new
one out next week will be better. other things....do you listen to Masada? i
hope so. i cant think of any other more aggressive things besides Kletka Red.
masada is very aggressive. charming hostess gets pretty..intense.

i discovered some band last week called the Kabalahs. but..they turned out to
be too gimicky and annoying. they were jewish They Might be Giants.

is the god is my co-pilot album good? i've never heard of that...before now.
there's an album on Avant by lots of japanese people doing klezmer but i dont
know the name off hand. there's also lots of other jewishlike free jazz things
here and there if youre interested in hearing about them..but maybe youre only
interested in kletka redlike things.

hope that helps...or something.
youre lucky to have the oberlin bookstore where you can count on seeing lots
of tzadik things and...other things available. i almost went oberlin 2 years
ago. but they decieved me and rejected me.

bye
