A stadard in Jewish ehtno-musicology is Idelsohn's anthology of Jewish
music. Also, get a hold of Vinaver's Musicalishe Pinkas for chasidic
music, and Pasternaks two volumes of Songs of the Chasidim. There is a huge
body of cantorial music out there and that is a series of courses in itself.
