DAYENU is everyone's favorite Pesach tune -- and now you can sing it in
English to the same tune as the Hebrew:
Had he saved us, saved us, saved us,
Saved us from the nasty 'Gyptians
And not given them conniptions,
Dayenu
Had he given those Egyptians
Unforgettable conniptions,
Without smashing all their idols,
Dayenu
Had he smashed up all their idols --
Pulverized those gal- and guy-dolls --
Without killing all their first-born,
Dayenu
Had he killed all their first-born
(Made families high and low forlorn)
But hadn't given us their riches,
Dayenu
. . . . . . . . . .
Had he years of wandering guided,
Soothed our troubles, cared and chided,
But had given us no manna,
Dayenu
Had he given us that manna
-- Eat as much of it as you wanna --
But had kept the Shabbat from us,
Dayenu
Had he not kept Shabbat from us --
A day of rest and not of commerce --
But not brought us to the Mountain,
Dayenu
