I don't have a direct pointer, but there was an extensive article on the
Jewish content in Phish in the Jerusalem Report last year. The article,
confirmed by several Phish Heads, talked about their playing Yerushalim Shel
Zahav and another song during concerts.
I have begun a collection of unusal covers of Jewish songs by pop groups.
Probably the best (strangest) is Spirit's "Jewish" (Hine Ma Tov). Also a
dynamite version of Hava Nagila by Dick Dale, and a hard-Klez cut called "the
drunken Jew" by alt rock supergoup Firewater. Does anyone else collect these
gems? Any favorites?
