Hine Ma Tov

B"H Luzern, Switzerland

Hebrew: Hine ma tov u'ma na'im shevet achim gam yachad.

USUAL TRANSLATION: Behold how good and how pleasant when brothers sit
together as one.

History: At the time of the two kingdoms, Judah and Israel, each used a
different word for "good" -
"tov" and "na'im". The Psalmist brought these two factions
together with the above sentence,
implying how pleasant it is when these two (occasionally)
warring groups of Jews
               could find peace.

Shalom,

Alex Jacobowitz
