I don't have the citations available 'chapter and verse' offhand, but a
great way to start such an exploration is to look up YIVO. They are the
foundation for Yiddish culture in New York; perhaps they're on the Net.
There are several Jewish Materials Archives on the Net that may quickly
lead you to YIVO. Try searching the following:
Shamash
Jewish Music
When and if you do get to YIVO, ask for Henry Sapoznik, a Klezmer
musician himself with the group 'Kapelye', and one of the archivists at
YIVO who has been at the forefront of research into just the Klezmer
stuff you're looking for. Don't overlook the possibility of simply
obtaining the YIVO telephone number from the New York operator (area code
212).
