Yiddish song about bird telling daughter to go out and live

   My mom asked me to track down a song.  She heard it at a Workman's
Circle dinner about 30 years ago.
   What Mom remembers is a bird singing to a daughter that it is her turn
to live, to go out with boys, etc.  It was done in Yiddish.
   Does anyone know what the song is and who might have done versions of it?
