Re: Jewish Folksongs

Wonderful. Our Jewish music heritage goes way back to David playing the
harp for King Saul. There is a wealth of Jewish music, Yiddish folk
songs, yiddish theatre songs,Israeli music, Ladino music(from the Sephardic
jews), cantorial music. Begin by going to the Workmen's Circle bookstore
at 45 E. 33rd Street,in Manhattan. Buy two books: Pearls of Yiddish Song,
and Mir Trogn a Gezung. They contain hundreds of Yiddish songs with
Yiddish,English and even the music. Look for book and recordings by Ruth
Rubin who collected Jewish folk music all over the world. The Smithsonian
has Jewish music in its Folkways section. Good luck. Keep in touch. I
would like to know how you make out. Hy in Florida.
