Hava Nagilah

Havah Nagilah started life as a Hassidic niggun, a devotional
song with vocables rather than text. It was notated by A. Z. Idelsohn
in Jerusalem earlier in this century. One of Idelsohn's young students,
Mosheh Nathanson fit it with the now familiar lyrics.

The full story is told in HAVA NAGILA!: THE WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS
SONG OF JOY -- a book by Sheldon Feinberg published by Shapolsky
(136 W. 22 St, NYC 10011) in 1988.
