[HANASHIR:3193] Re: HANASHIR digest 567

I always looked forward to reading the Hava Nashira digest before - but I
find that feeling is intensified since the experience of June 2-6.
Yes, we were - and still are - a community. Yes, many of us reached a
higher and deeper level of spirituality than we might usually experience at
home.
I can compare particular moments in my own congregation with what we were
able to accomplish in sound, harmony and intensity throughout our worship and
our singing at other times as well. Wendy's posting demonstrated how we can
share some of the Hava Nashira spirit at home.
Of course, that's a little hard to do with a very tired voice and
hoarseness as I prepare for my first service since HN tomorrow night. I know
I probably won't make it through the service at normal volume - but I figure
if I sing softly, it might get the congregation to step up and fill the room
with their own sound. They usually do quite well with that, but my current
vocal challenges just might encourage them to do it even more.
I did want to add to my previous posting a thank you to the Hava Nashira
faculty for their leadership, guidance, modeling of songleading techniques,
and inspiration. The Maseng/Taubman song composition workshop has made me
want to return to composing music, which I haven't done for over 20 years.
To everyone, a tuneful and heartfelt Shabbat Shalom!
