[HANASHIR:3194] RE: risers

Ellen:

As one who spent 25 years managing performing arts venues allow me to offer
these comments:

1. Do not EVER purchase used choral or band risers. It is an unsafe and very
unrecommended practice.
2. The best risers are made by the following companies:
Wenger (yes-they are the most expensive-but the best and safest by far)
    Sico
    Stage Right
3. Do not cheat or skimp-always purchase the back safety rail.
4. Don't use "home made" risers/

Horror stories of collapsing and failing risers abound in the industry and
it is a serious risk.

6 foot length rsiers may seem a better deal than 4 foot, but 4 foot risers
give you greater shape flexibility.

Good luck with your search-and play it safe.

Adrian

Subject: [HANASHIR:3190] risers

The community choir that I conduct, the Rochester Jewish Chorale in
Rochester, New york is looking to purchase risers. They would have to be
lightweight since we sing in many venues around the community and would have
to transport them four times per year. Does anyone have any recommendations
for a source of risers? Does anyone have another web sight where we might
purchase some used ones? thanks for any info you might have. ellen
