Shalom!
I hope you all have had a wonderful and milchig Shavuot!
I am new to the list, and I would like to take a few moments of your time to
introduce myself.
I was born and live in Costa Rica, (Yes! That wonderful tropical paradise I
am madly fond of!).
I belong to a small (aprox. 85 families) Liberal Synagogue, called B'Nai
Israel. In this moment, I am working in order to get into rabbinical school.
Even though I have never received formal training in chazanut (I studied
drama and my voice is -somehow- trained as a baritone), I have taken over
the work of leading the singing of the congregation.
Being Costa Rica such a small country, where Jews add up to 0.5% of the
overall population, it's almost impossible for me to find Jewish liturgical
music, either written or recorded. Some folk music I can find, but that's
about it.
So, if anyone out there can help me with sending me scores, tapes, or
letting me know where can I find them over the Net, I would be so grateful!
I am particularly interested in getting some HH music. I really want to make
a nice and special contribution to my community and my way to do it is with
music. So, if anyone out there would like to contact me and help me out,
GREAT!
Shalom!
